A talk by Adele Zeynep Walton, part of the Off the Shelf Festival of Words, held at the Millennium Gallery.
Adele Zeynep Walton is speaking at the Millennium Gallery on Tuesday 20 October, as part of Off the Shelf: Logging Off. It's one of the talks in this year's Off the Shelf: Festival of Words, the University of Sheffield's festival that turns the city into a stage for writers and readers.
The venue is the Millennium Gallery on Arundel Gate, which brings the best in art and design to Sheffield. Its collection displays celebrate the city's metalworking prowess and the art and artefacts brought here by the artist and writer John Ruskin (1819–1900). The Guild of St George's Ruskin Collection, established in the 1880s to inspire the people of Sheffield, is shown there through regularly changing displays.
If you're planning to make a day of it, the gallery's café, Ambulo, serves coffee and grilled cheese sandwiches, and the shop stocks homeware, hand-crafted jewellery, books and stationery. It's a good spot to linger before or after the talk.
