Free panel event by the Sheffield & District Law Society's Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Committee on neurodiversity in the legal profession.
The Sheffield & District Law Society is hosting a panel on neurodiversity at the Henry Boot Building on Wednesday 21 October, and it's one of those early-morning things that'll have you home before the proper working day has even kicked in. The session is run by the Society's Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Committee, and it's aimed at legal professionals, students and allies. If you're in the law, or just around it, it's a good chance to hear about something that doesn't always get much airtime in the profession.
The panel is set to explore neurodiversity within the legal sector, and it does so by drawing on lived experiences. The idea is to weigh up the challenges and opportunities facing neurodivergent people in the field, and then look at the practical steps organisations and individuals can take to make the whole sector more inclusive. It's not just a talk about the theory of it, then — it's about what actually works on the ground.
Because it's a panel, you'll get a few different voices in the room rather than one person talking at you. The focus is on the real-world side of things: the hurdles that exist and the ways around them, and the opportunities that come when neurodiversity is actually understood and supported. It's the kind of conversation that's easier to have when you've got people sharing their own experiences to ground it.

Logistically, it's a bit of a morning commitment. Networking starts at 8.00am, and you can join in either in person or virtually, so you don't have to be in the city centre to get involved. The panel itself kicks off at 8.30am and runs for two hours, which takes you through to 10.30am. Entry is free, and breakfast is provided for those who make it in person. The venue is the Henry Boot Building, 4 Charles Street, in the city centre, S1 2HS.
