Free workshop by the Sheffield Women's Leadership Circle on negotiating workload, hours and recognition at work.
Negotiating what you actually need (not just what you're owed) runs at the Owen Building on Howard Street in the city centre on Thursday 29 October, starting at 19:00. It's a workshop on negotiation skills, run by the Sheffield Women's Leadership Circle, a friendly and practical monthly space for women in and around leadership across Sheffield.
The session reframes negotiation as 'steering rather than battling' and focuses on asking for the things that genuinely change your working life — workload, hours, scope and recognition — without turning yourself into someone you are not. It's less about the art of the deal and more about the practicalities of your day-to-day. The idea is to get you what you actually need to do your job better, rather than just fighting for what you're owed.
It's a working session, so you're asked to bring a real situation you're sitting on — something you've been wanting to bring up but haven't quite found the words for — and to leave with something you can actually say. The goal is to walk away with a concrete script or a clear approach you can use in your next meeting, rather than just a few general tips.
