DJ night recreating the King Mojo Club sound of 1960s Sheffield with Motown, soul, R&B and 60s classics.
Mojo Rising is at The Library on Friday 4 December, starting at 19:00. It's a DJ night, and the music is built around the sound of the King Mojo Club, one of Sheffield's most iconic 1960s music venues. The sets channel that King Mojo feel alongside Motown, soul, R&B and 60s classics, so it's a night for the dancefloor rather than a seated gig.
There's a bit more to it than just the music, though. Mojo Rising is part of the Mojo Rising heritage project, which marks 60 years of music, culture and community in Sheffield. The whole thing takes its inspiration from the King Mojo Club, and beyond the DJ sets, the project invites people to share their own memories of Sheffield's legendary club scene. It's supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, so it's as much about the city's nightlife history as it is about the records being played on the night.

If you've got your own stories of Sheffield's clubbing past, that's exactly what the project is looking for. The music is the draw, but the memories are the other half of the picture. The night itself is at The Library, 10 Leeds Road, S9 3TY, and tickets are £6.00 via Eventbrite. It starts at 19:00 on Friday 4 December.
