Vintage marketplace of homeware, furniture, lighting and collectables from the 1940s to the 1970s at The Steamworks.
Midcentury Market comes to The Steamworks on Sunday 22 November, a one-day vintage fair dedicated to retro homewares, furniture, lighting and collectables from the 1940s through to the 1970s. It's run by Midcentury Markets, who put on similar events across the country and bring together specialist traders from all over the UK for the day.
If you know your mid-century design, you'll recognise the names that usually turn up: Hornsea, G-Plan, Ercol, Knoll and Eames. The focus is on authentic pieces from those decades, so it's more of a proper vintage market than a general antiques fair. The organisers set the shopping against nostalgic music and refreshments, and they encourage both traders and staff to get involved in the day. The Sheffield edition is held at The Steamworks, an industrial-chic venue on Randall Street in Highfield, and the whole thing is built as a chance to connect with fellow vintage lovers and find timeless mid-century design.
