Free interactive workshop led by Professor Helen Kennedy introducing the ESRC Digital Good Builder for building responsible digital technologies.
Professor Helen Kennedy is leading an interactive workshop at The Hide on Wednesday 28 October, from 2:00pm to 3:30pm. It's called Making Your Digital Technologies Work For People, Society and the Planet, and it's built for anyone who builds, develops or deploys digital tech within their organisation.
The session introduces the Digital Good Builder, a free online tool developed by the ESRC Digital Good Network to help technology deliver good outcomes for people, society and the planet. Kennedy walks attendees through the ten measures that underpin the Builder, drawing on real-world research and evidence and offering concrete, actionable steps rather than just high-level theory. The ESRC Digital Good Network itself is a research community focused on what a good digital society should look like and how to get there.
Kennedy is a Professor of Digital Society at the University of Sheffield's School of Sociological Studies, Politics and International Relations, and she's a Fellow of the British Academy. The workshop is organised by Public Engagement at the University of Sheffield as part of the Understanding Society 2026 collection and the ESRC Festival of Social Science.
