Free Taoist taster session with the Sheffield Taoist Centre, exploring mindful movement, balance and breath through Qigong and Taoist movement meditation.
Living Tao: Movement, Balance & Breath comes to Firth Court on Wednesday 11 November, a Taoist taster session that runs from 6 pm to 7 pm. It's hosted by the University of Sheffield Confucius Institute, with the session itself delivered by the Sheffield Taoist Centre.
The hour is built around three things: mindful movement, finding your balance and reconnecting with your breath. It starts with simple Qigong movements that focus on breath, balance and awareness, and then moves into Taoist movement meditation, which is basically mindfulness through motion. Along the way, there's a bit of the theory behind it all, with a look at core principles like Yin and Yang and how they apply to the body and mind.
It's set up as a friendly, practical and accessible introduction, so you don't need any prior experience or a particular fitness level to take part. If you've never tried Qigong or Taoist meditation before, this is a low-pressure way to get a feel for it.
