Linocut printmaking workshop to design, carve and print festive tree ornaments and gift boxes.
Carousel Print Studio is running a linocut workshop on Sunday 29 November, with the session starting at 10:30. It's a festive one: you'll be making your own tree decorations and gift boxes, so it's a good way to get some handmade bits sorted for the Christmas run.
The workshop is led by tutor Sarah, and the whole process is laid out from start to finish. You'll begin by designing and carving your own patterns into linoleum blocks, then print those patterns onto paper templates. From there, you'll assemble the printed paper into hanging tree ornaments and small gift boxes. It's a full cycle — from a blank block to a finished object you can actually use.
Carousel Print Studio is a not-for-profit charity on the ground floor of Exchange Place Studios in Castlegate, right in Sheffield city centre. They run printmaking workshops and provide facilities for creatives in an accessible, well-equipped studio, so it's a proper working space rather than just a one-off class. If you've never tried linocut before, this is a straightforward way to get into it without needing your own kit.
