Intimate candle-lit Christmas service with carols, a devotional thought and time for prayer and reflection to honour loved ones.
The Hope Centre is hosting its Light of Hope Service on Saturday 28 November, a space for people to honour loved ones during the Christmas season. It's held at the centre on Bernard Road in Sheffield, S2 5BQ, and starts at 18:30.
They describe it as an intimate gathering, and the evening is built around a few specific things: candle-lit carols, a short devotional thought of encouragement, and time for personal prayer and reflection. The carols set the tone, and the devotional is a brief word of encouragement rather than a long sermon, leaving plenty of room for the quieter parts of the night. The time for prayer and reflection is when you can just sit with your own thoughts and remember whoever you've come for.
That's the core of it — the carols, the short talk, and the space to be quiet. It's not a formal service in the way you might expect, but a gathering designed for people who are remembering someone they've lost and want a bit of comfort and peace as Christmas approaches. If that's where you're at this year, it's a gentle way to mark it.
