Beginner-friendly workshop to learn traditional Japanese painting techniques such as Ukiyo-e and Rinpa, sold as a gift voucher.
Ula is running a Japanese Painting Class in Sheffield on Tuesday 27 October, a two-and-a-half-hour session that takes you through the basics of traditional Japanese painting. It's beginner-friendly, so you don't need any prior experience to get stuck in.
Ula is a local artist with a bachelor's in fine art and a master's in visual art, and she's been teaching for over 15 years. Her workshops cover Japanese art movements like Ukiyo-e and Rinpa, and you'll work with traditional materials: Sumi ink, Gansai Tambi — the traditional Japanese colours — and gold leaf. You'll be painting on rice paper boards, fans, or silk fans, so you'll leave with something tangible rather than just a sketch in a book.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Sheffield and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.
