Black-tie New Year's Eve soul gala presented by Johnny Nelson, with a Caribbean buffet, midnight soul party and dancing until 2am.
Johnny Nelson is taking his SoulTrain Sheffield session up a gear for New Year's Eve, moving it from the usual Sunday slot to a full black-tie gala at the DoubleTree by Hilton Sheffield City on Thursday 31 December. It's the same crowd and the same soul music that usually gets people on their feet, just dressed up for the occasion. The night runs from 7pm through to 2am, so it's a long one that takes you right past midnight.
It kicks off with a welcome drink, followed by a premium Caribbean buffet. There's Jamaican brown stew chicken, spicy Jamaican fish, curried chickpeas and vegetables, rice and peas, Jamaican dumplings, coleslaw, mac and cheese, steamed vegetables with jerk gravy, and sticky toffee rum cake for dessert. From 10pm, the Midnight Soultrain party takes over, with DJ Chunky on the decks spinning a funky mix of soulful grooves. There's a New Year's countdown at 11:55pm, and the dancing goes on until 2am.
