One-off specialist workshop at Silver Psaltpot to try silver soldering, hand forming and polishing, and make a piece of silver jewellery.
Silver Psaltpot is running a Jewellery Taster on Thursday 11 February, from 6pm to 9pm at their studio, 3 Brincliffe Crescent, Sheffield S11 9AW. It's a one-off specialist workshop that sits within their regular programme of classes and workshops, and it's pitched as a way to get a feel for jewellery making before you commit to a full block of lessons. The studio also presents its classes and workshops as an excellent gift, so it works as a present for someone else as much as a treat for yourself.
Over the course of the evening, you'll go through the basics of texturing, silver soldering, hand forming and polishing silver. You'll be working with the metal throughout, and you'll make a piece of silver jewellery to wear away with you when the session finishes. It's a good way to see if you enjoy the process without having to sign up for a long course first.

There are a couple of practical things to keep in mind. You buy your silver on the night, and they estimate you'll spend somewhere between £5 and £10 on it. If you need glasses to read, they ask that you bring them along. The session runs from 6pm to 9pm, and the place is Silver Psaltpot, 3 Brincliffe Crescent, Sheffield S11 9AW. Tickets are £45.
