Full-day printmaking workshop with tutor Joanna Allen working intaglio drypoint, collagraph and chine collé at Carousel Print Studio.
Carousel Print Studio is running an intaglio drypoint and chine collé workshop on Saturday 7 November, from 10:30am to 4pm. It's part of their Printmaking Workshops 2026–2027 collection, so it's one of several sessions they've got lined up over the next year.
Over the course of the day, you'll work through a few different intaglio methods. You start with drypoint, using intaglio tools to scratch designs directly into card plates. From there, you build in collagraph elements to add texture and depth, and then you'll learn chine collé—a process where thin coloured paper is sandwiched between the inked plate and the printing paper. By the end, you'll have a small edition of prints to take home.
The session is led by Joanna Allen, an artist, printmaker and textile designer based in the High Peak. She holds a degree in Printed Textiles and a PGCE in Art & Design from Manchester Metropolitan University, and she's been running collagraph workshops for over 18 years, so she knows her way around a plate.
