Free 18+ gig with Sheffield DIY punk band Nervous Pills and Cardiff psych and shoegaze band Enabling Behaviour at The Harlequin.
Nervous Pills and Enabling Behaviour play The Harlequin on Friday 20 November, a double bill put on by HQ Live. It's a Sheffield night with a Cardiff band coming up to join, and the two sets sit on opposite ends of the guitar spectrum.
Nervous Pills are a Sheffield DIY punk outfit, and they describe their sound as a "fist-punch" built from fast-paced, heavily distorted riffs, brain-shattering beats and gut-wobbling synths. It's the sort of thing that works best when it's loud and close up, and they're playing it on home turf.
Enabling Behaviour are returning to The Harlequin from Cardiff. They blend psych, post-rock, slowcore and shoegaze, and they've drawn comparisons to Slint, Mogwai and The Swirlies — names that point towards the slower, more textural side of things, with a focus on space and atmosphere rather than the fast-paced punk of the other half of the bill. Between the two, the night should cover a fair bit of ground.
