Hijack

Hijack takes over Plot 22 on Friday 30 October, running from 11:00pm until 3:00am. It's a late one, and the night is billed as LOCAL w/ HIJACK, with the club night taking centre stage.

If you're not familiar with the spot, Plot 22 is a 120-capacity room that describes itself as Sheffield's underground hub and the city's only phone-free club. It's a DIY venue with community at its heart, part of the network of grassroots, student-run spaces that keep the city's smaller nights going. Beyond the dancefloor, it doubles as a studio and offers equipment and venue hire, so it's as much a creative space as it is a club.

The bookings there cover a fair bit of ground — jungle and techno sit alongside pop mashups and dubstep, and it's hosted local names like JIMMY THE GENT and SECTION 2 OLD SKOOL. The venue also runs monthly RiteTrax open decks nights, which have built a strong community following, and stages after-parties open to non-wristband holders, so it's a place that keeps its doors open to more than just the main ticket holders.

Hijack fits right into that mix. It's a late-night club session, starting at 11:00pm and going through until 3:00am, with tickets ranging from £3.50 to £11. If you're after a night that stays late and keeps things phone-free, this is the one.
