Live show by Irish band Gurriers, mixing shoegaze, alt-rock, noise and punk, with support from Tramhaus.
Gurriers play Crookes Social Club on Monday 19 October, with Tramhaus opening the night. The Dublin band are touring their second album, Nobody's Coming To Save You, which they recorded across two studios: Attica Studios in Donegal and Holy Mountain Studios in London.
There's a fair bit of heavy lifting behind the record. Mark Bowen, of IDLES, and Loren Humphrey, who's worked with Geese and Cameron Winter, both produced it. Chris Fullard engineered, and John Congleton — known for his work with St. Vincent, Modest Mouse and Swans — mixed the whole thing. The line-up is Charlie McCarthy, Mark MacCormack, Pierce Callaghan, Ben O'Neill and Daniel Hoff.
They describe their sound as sitting at the crossroads of shoegaze, alt-rock, noise and punk, and that's a helpful way to place them. It's the kind of description that tells you what to expect: the wash of shoegaze, the structure of alt-rock, the abrasive edge of noise and the energy of punk. If you're into any of those, you've got a good idea of where they're coming from.
