Daytime party for over-35s with soul, funk, disco and R&B music, a Christmas edition of Gimme The Night.
Gimme The Night returns to Genting Club Sheffield on Sunday 27 December, this time as The Christmas Gladrags Edition. It's a daytime party, which is the whole point of the thing — you get your dancing in while it's still light out and you're home in time for dinner, rather than nursing a hangover through the next working day.
If the name doesn't ring a bell, the music will. The night is built around the Soul, Funk, Disco and R&B that used to fill Josephine's on Monday nights, so the set is a trip back to those dancefloors. It's a particular kind of sound — the sort of thing that works just as well for a proper dance as it does for a casual afternoon with a drink in your hand. The Christmas Gladrags title gives you a nod towards the dress code, too, so it's a good excuse to bring out something a bit more dressed up than your usual Sunday gear.
They describe it as a daytime party for grown-ups, and it's designed for the over-35s, though it's open to everyone. If you spent your Monday nights at Josephine's back in the day, this is exactly that night brought back to life in the middle of the afternoon. If you weren't there, it's still the same music — Soul, Funk, Disco and R&B — just played when you can still see the sun.
