Full day workshop to learn water-based screen printing at The Basement in Sheffield.
The Basement is hosting a full-day water-based screen printing workshop on Saturday 12 December, starting at 10:00. It's a one-day session, so you'll be there for the whole thing rather than popping in for a couple of hours.
The focus is water-based screen printing, which is a bit different from the solvent-based stuff you might have come across. The inks are water-soluble, so they're easier to clean up and don't leave the same strong chemical smell in the room. Over the course of the day, you'll go through the process of getting a design onto a screen and pulling it through onto fabric or paper, with the water-based inks doing the heavy lifting. It's a full day's work, so you'll have time to get a proper handle on it rather than rushing through a single print.
Because it's a full-day workshop, it's more of a deep dive than a taster session. You'll be working through the stages of the process from start to finish, and by the end of the day you'll have something you've actually made. It's the kind of thing that's easier to get your head around when you've got the whole day to get stuck in, rather than trying to squeeze it into a morning or an afternoon.
