Monthly peer feedback session of Yorkshire Artspace where artists Freya Foster and Sean Williams present their work for critique.
Freya Foster and Sean Williams are the two artists presenting at Exchange Place Studios on Wednesday 4 November, as part of Feedback #051. It's the latest session of Feedback, Yorkshire Artspace's monthly crit group for artists at all career stages, and it's open to anyone over 18.
If you've never been to a Feedback session, the format is quite specific and stripped back. The presenting artists show their work, and then they listen in silence while the rest of the room discusses it. There's very little background information given—usually just the titles and whether the piece is finished—so the work has to stand on its own. Once the room has had its say, the artist gets a chance to respond or answer questions. It's a peer-led space, so the feedback comes from the other artists in the room rather than a panel of judges or a single critic.
The whole thing runs for about an hour and a half and is facilitated by Programme & Communications Officer Tyler Mellins. After the session, there's an optional drinks social over at The Harlequin on Nursery Street, which is a good chance to keep talking with the people you've just spent the evening watching and discussing.

It's a straightforward, working session rather than a polished exhibition, so it's a good one to drop into if you're interested in seeing work in progress and hearing how other artists talk about it. The session runs from 4:00 to 5:30 pm, with doors opening at 3:55 pm, at Exchange Place Studios, Exchange Street, Sheffield S2 5TR.
