A playful printmaking workshop with tutor Sarah Godfrey where participants create original monotype and monoprints from found objects.
Carousel Print Studio is hosting an experimental monotype and monoprint workshop on Saturday 24 October, with tutor Sarah Godfrey leading the session. It's a one-off morning of printmaking over in the city centre, and the whole thing is built around playing with the medium rather than sticking to a strict set of rules.
The session takes a playful, relaxed approach to monotype and monoprint. You'll spend the morning experimenting by printing from found objects—things like dried leaves, lace and textured paper—and you'll produce prints both with and without a printing press. The prints you make are originals, so you'll be taking home something you've actually created from scratch rather than a run of copies.
Sarah Godfrey brings a spontaneous, intuitive approach to mark-making, and her background as an illustrator has shaped an imaginative, fantastical style. She's passionate about printmaking and has taught at numerous workshops, colleges, schools and organisations, so she knows how to guide you through the process without it feeling like a lecture. The focus is on experimenting and seeing what happens when you put different materials to paper.
