Erotica - Sensual Burlesque & Heels Dance Workshop

Lara Gothique brings Erotica to Chapeltown Community Centre on Sunday 1 November, a sensual burlesque and heels dance workshop that sits on the slower, darker side of the style. It's run by Gothique herself, who works under the name The Velvet Burlesque.

If you're not familiar with the name, Gothique — also known as Hells Belle — has more than 35 years of professional experience as a choreographer, performer, producer, mentor and teacher. She founded The Velvet Burlesque in 1991, which has grown into one of the UK's largest and longest-running burlesque and cabaret dance class and workshop providers. Her work has picked up several awards along the way, including Top 5 Best British Burlesque Performer and Best British Burlesque Troupe at The Burlesque Awards, and Burlesque Dance Tuition Business of the Year at the Corporate LiveWire Global Awards.

Erotica is described as the darker, slower side of burlesque, and there's no striptease involved. You don't need any prior dance or heels experience to take part, and floorwork is optional, so you can stick to what feels right for you. The session is run in an inclusive, judgment-free environment open to adults aged 18 and over.

The workshop runs from 3pm to 5:30pm, with the venue opening at 2:30pm if you want to arrive early and settle in. It's held at Chapeltown Community Centre, Orchard Court, Burncross Road, Chapeltown, Sheffield, S3 1TH. Tickets are £50, with up to three interest-free payments available via PayPal.
