Two-hour in-person sewing workshop led by Hamra Alam to learn sustainable fashion skills, suitable for beginners and experienced sewers.
Eco-Fashion Sewing Workshops are running at Bradbury Makers' Shed in Hillsborough Park on Thursday 22 October, from 2:30pm to 4:30pm. The session is led by Hamra Alam, and the whole thing is built around the idea of picking up sewing skills while making a positive impact on the planet, starting at home with sustainable fashion.
It's pitched as a fun, in-person workshop for anyone wanting to get their hands on a machine. They describe it as suiting beginners and pros alike, so you don't need to have ever touched a needle to feel welcome. On the day, you'll work with sewing machines, mannequins and tailoring materials provided on site, and you're encouraged to bring your own ideas and style to the table rather than just following a set pattern. The session runs for two hours, and it's open to over-16s.
There's a social side to it too: teas and snacks are included, so it's as much about hanging out as it is about the sewing. If you're in the mood to spend an afternoon making something with your own hands, it's a good spot to start.
