Crookes Folk Club night with guest artist Janglebuddies (Philip Cockerham), followed by floor spots, with entry by donation.
Janglebuddies are the main feature at Crookes Folk Club on Thursday 29 October, held at The Princess Royal on Slinn Street in Crookes. Janglebuddies is the stage name of Philip Cockerham, a British singer, songwriter and performer who's played a major part in the history of the club — he first appeared as far back as the Holybush, one of its early predecessors.
Based in West Yorkshire, he plays nationally on the folk and acoustic music scene. His songs cover a range of themes and stories, sometimes humorous but always thought-provoking, often with memorable hooks and irresistible choruses. Alongside his own material, he performs familiar traditional songs delivered in a refreshingly different way, and he's built a reputation for both his original writing and his entertaining live performances.
