Talk by speaker Louise Budgen about why we pretend we are fine when we aren't, with honest stories and conversation.
Louise Budgen is at Leah's Yard on Tuesday 10 November for Beyond I'm Fine, a talk and conversation event that asks why we pretend we're fine when we aren't. It's part of the Conversations That Matter series, and the evening is built around honest stories, thought-provoking conversation, laughter and connection in a room where you can simply be yourself.
Budgen is the author of THE Quiet ROAR and the founder of TrueSoul®, a speaker who delivers talks on self-trust, resilience and reinvention for women's events, conferences and corporate audiences. She reinvented her own career at 50 after surviving a motorway accident, PTSD and cancer diagnoses, and she weaves warmth, gentle humour and deeply human storytelling into her work. The evening is aimed at anyone ready for something a little more real, with the invitation to come curious and leave lighter, brighter and ready for a more honest conversation with yourself. She signs off with the line: 'The truth whispers before life starts shouting.'
It's a night that starts with a question and opens up into a shared space, so it's as much about the room as it is about the talk. If you've spent a fair few years nodding and saying 'I'm fine' when you're anything but, this is exactly the kind of thing that gives you a chance to stop doing that for a bit.
