A sing-along session of well-known opera choruses, in English, led by Georgina Hulse and accompanied by Graham Wilkinson.
Sheffield Music Makers are running a sing-along session at Bents Green Methodist Church on Saturday 31 October, and the whole thing is built around opera choruses. It's a morning and afternoon affair, starting at 10:30, and it's open to anyone who wants to join in.
The session is led by musical director Georgina Hulse, with Graham Wilkinson on accompaniment. The plan is to work through some of the big choruses that most people recognise from opera, like Verdi's Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves and Bizet's Habanera. Everything is sung in English, so you don't need to know any foreign languages to take part, and all the music is provided on the day, which means you can just turn up and start singing without having to prepare anything beforehand.
It's run by Sheffield Music Makers, and the afternoon brings in soloists to join the mix. Between the singing, there's tea, coffee and biscuits on the table, though you'll need to bring your own lunch. It's a full day's thing, so it's more of a social morning and afternoon than a quick stop-in.
