Candlelight concert by string quartet String Infusion of holiday film soundtracks from Love Actually, Home Alone, Elf, The Holiday, The Snowman and Frozen.
String Infusion are taking over Sheffield Cathedral on Thursday 17 December for a Candlelight Christmas concert, with two performances on the night: one at 7:00pm and another at 9:00pm. Both run for about 65 minutes, and doors open 45 minutes before each start. Late entry isn't permitted, so it's worth getting there a bit early.
The string quartet will be playing through a selection of holiday film soundtracks, and the list reads like a Christmas movie marathon. You'll hear Love Actually, Home Alone, Elf, The Holiday, The Snowman and Frozen—all played on strings rather than the original scores. It's a tribute concert, not affiliated with the original artists or their estates, so it's the quartet's own take on these soundtracks.
True to the Candlelight name, the whole thing is performed under the glow of hundreds of flickering candles, and the cathedral is one of those Sheffield spots they've opened up for this specifically. It's a multi-sensory setup—live music and the candles—rather than just a standard recital. Seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis within your chosen zone, so if you're keen on a particular spot, the earlier you arrive the better. The venue is wheelchair accessible, and the show is suitable for ages 8 and over, with under-16s needing to be accompanied by an adult.
