Live show by Scottish singer-songwriter Ross Wilson, who plays under the name Blue Rose Code, at The Greystones.
Blue Rose Code plays The Greystones on Sunday 15 November, with doors opening at 7:30pm and the set starting at 8:00pm. The name is the stage name of Scottish singer-songwriter Ross Wilson, who's often described as one of Edinburgh's favourite sons and still one of Scotland's best-kept secrets.
His debut release came out on Natural Studio Records, and it draws a good deal of its inspiration from his family's historic home on the Isle of Lewis. The sound takes in the tenderness of John Martyn, the Caledonian soul of Van Morrison, and the roots mastery of Nathaniel Rateliff. Uncut called it 'a blaze of Caledonian soul, muted jazz & poetic recitation', and The Times described Wilson as making 'widescreen soul in the spirit of Van Morrison'. Critics have also named him 'one of the best live acts around'.

If those names ring a bell, you've got a fair idea of where this sits: soulful, rooted, and leaning into the singer-songwriter tradition. The Scottish connection runs through the whole thing, from the Isle of Lewis inspiration to the Caledonian soul label that keeps coming up. It's a gig that puts the live performance front and centre, and with the set starting at 8:00pm, you'll have the full evening to hear it. Tickets are £22, which includes the booking fee.
