beaux

beaux play Sidney and Matilda on Friday 23 October, with the set starting at 19:00. It's a single-act bill, so the whole night is built around one name.

Beaux is a London-born British Cypriot singer, songwriter and producer, born on 3 June 1999. That's three roles in one person — writing the songs, singing them, and producing the recordings — which usually means the sound you hear on record is exactly what they intended, rather than something shaped by a separate producer in a studio. If you've come across the name before, that's the person behind the music.

The venue is Sidney and Matilda, a converted warehouse in Sheffield's cultural quarter. It's built a following as a hub for indie music and art, known for eclectic live performances and dynamic exhibitions, so it's a natural fit for an indie gig. The warehouse space gives it a different feel from a standard pub backroom, and it's right in the thick of the city's creative side of town.

There are a few practical things to keep in mind before you head down. The venue has an age restriction of over-14s only, and under-18s need to be accompanied by an adult over 21. There's also a limit of two under-18s per adult, so if you're bringing a group of younger friends, make sure you've got enough adults to cover them. With that sorted, it's beaux at Sidney and Matilda, Friday 23 October, 19:00.
