Beauty & The Beastiality - Adult Panto!

Beauty & The Beastiality comes to the Sheffield Library Theatre on Saturday 24 April, part of a UK theatre tour by Cattle Productions. It's the fourth adult panto they've put on, and they've been doing this brand of rude, naughty theatre since 2011.

There's a bit of a distinction they make here that's worth keeping in mind: they bill it as a proper adult panto, written from the ground up for an adult audience, rather than a family show with a few swear words thrown in. That means the humour is built around the adult themes from the start, not just tacked on to a children's story. It's a farcical take on the fairy tale, played for laughs and aimed squarely at grown-ups.

Leading the cast is the company's main man, Big Dick Dickey, who returns to the stage. The production describes him as filthy, foul-mouthed, flirty and funny, which gives you a fair idea of the tone he brings to the show. He's the central figure around which the rest of the panto's chaos revolves.

One detail that sets this apart from a standard night out is that each performance backs a different local charity, so your ticket goes toward something beyond the show itself. The performance is at 7:30pm at the Sheffield Library Theatre on Surrey Street, right in the city centre (S1 1XZ). If you're in the mood for a night of adult panto, that's the one.
