Two-day annual summit of the APRIL AI Hub on AI for precision medicine and healthcare, with keynotes, research showcases, panels and an awards session.
The APRIL AI Hub is bringing its annual summit to The Edge on Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 October, running from 09:00 to 16:30 each day. It's the second time the hub has gathered for its annual summit, following an inaugural event in Edinburgh, and this year it's Sheffield's turn to host.
The hub works at the intersection of AI for precision medicine and healthcare, privacy, reproducibility, interpretability and learning, and the summit is its flagship gathering. It brings together researchers, practitioners and innovators in AI and machine learning for two days of knowledge sharing and collaboration. The programme mixes keynote presentations, research showcases, panel discussions, poster sessions and networking, and the whole thing wraps up with an awards session.
Prof. Themis Prodromakis opens things off with the opening remarks, followed by a session called 'Three Years of APRIL' that looks back at the hub's work so far. From there, the focus shifts to the actual tools they've been building, with dedicated sessions on STARS, PRAMANA, EMOS and LaMDA. There's also a Sandpit Competition where proposals are pitched, seed funding talks, and PhD presentations, so you'll hear from the early-career researchers as well as the established names.
