Three-hour jewellery-making workshop to learn how to anodise aluminium and combine it with silver to make a wearable piece.
Silver Psaltpot is running an anodised aluminium and silver jewellery workshop on Thursday 4 March, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at their studio on 3 Brincliffe Crescent, Sheffield S11 9AW. It's a three-hour session where you'll learn how to anodise aluminium and then combine it with silver to make a wearable piece of jewellery.
The first part of the evening is all about experimenting with the technique. You'll learn how to apply colour to the aluminium surface by adding resists, images or text to block out specific areas before applying different pigments. Once you've got the hang of that, you'll move on to making your final piece. It's a good way to get a feel for the process before you commit to a finished item.
Silver Psaltpot runs this alongside their regular programme of morning, afternoon and evening classes, which they arrange in six blocks throughout the year. These one-off specialist workshops are a way to try out jewellery making before signing up for a full block, and they're recommended as gifts for friends or family. There's free on-site parking available at the studio.
