The 20ft Squid Blues Band play their folk-tinged blues boogie in a small all-ages room in Nether Edge.
The 20ft Squid Blues Band are playing Cafe No9 on Saturday 12 December, the second of two back-to-back shows at the venue. They describe themselves as Sheffield's premier purveyors of sleaze-free, olde-time, folk-tinged blues boogie, and the night is billed with seasonal mirth, merriment and hijinks.
Their sound pulls from Chicago style but takes a wider look at the blues tradition, coming out as fast-paced, vibrant blues with eye-popping harmonica and intricate beats. It's a folk-tinged take on the boogie, and they're playing it live in a room that's built for it.
Cafe No9 is a small room in Nether Edge, with capacity for around 40 people. It has disabled access, though no disabled toilets. The show is all ages, with under-14s needing to be accompanied by an adult. The ticket price includes a BYOB fee, so you can bring your own drinks along.
