Intimate show in which David Ford, former member of the indie rock band Easyworld, revisits 25 years of songwriting with a live set and storytelling.
David Ford is playing Cafe No9 on Tuesday 10 November, a second night added to his Sheffield stop. He's touring Songbook, a stripped-back, intimate show built around 25 years of songwriting. It's part live set, part storytelling, with Ford revisiting the songs that shaped his career and sharing the moments and influences behind them. The tour accompanies a career-spanning retrospective double vinyl he compiled himself, mixing updated recordings and remastered originals.
Ford first made his name with the indie rock band Easyworld, who released the mini-album ...Better Ways to Self Destruct and two full-length albums on Jive Records before splitting in 2004. On his own, he's built a following around songs that blend Americana, English melodicism and a touch of rock 'n' roll, held together by finely crafted lyrics and emotive stories of social commentary, politics and love. He draws on the vein of Tom Waits, Neil Young and Randy Newman, and the Songbook set lets those influences sit close to the surface.
