Inaugural conference by the Association for Decentralised Energy on low-carbon heat networks, with a keynote by Martin McCluskey MP, panels and a drinks reception.
The ADE Heat Networks Conference comes to The OEC on Thursday 22 October, the first of its kind. It's being run by ADE, the Association for Decentralised Energy, the UK's largest non-profit trade body for demand and heat networks. They've been around since 1967 and represent more than 160 members, so this is a big one for them.
The day is built around panel discussions, working groups and roundtables that bring together industry leaders, policymakers, developers and heat network specialists. The keynote comes from Martin McCluskey MP, Minister for Local Energy and Jobs. Two of the panels are 'Clean Heat 2040 – Building the pipes to get us there' and 'Data Centre heat re-use – Opportunities, barriers and real solutions to support a new policy landscape'.
Beyond those, the day covers the cost of heat, consumer protection and compliance with HNTAS regulation, usable heat opportunities including data centres, future skills and training, and geothermal networks. It ties back to Connecting the pipes: A Joined Up Approach to Delivering Clean Heat by 2040, which ADE published earlier in 2026. That report argues that a heat transition can benefit consumers, communities, the energy system and the economy, and the conference is a chance to talk through how that actually happens. The session is sponsored by Armadillo Analytics and supported by EnergiRaven, Heat Trust and Taconova Group AG.

It runs from 9am to 5.30pm, followed by a drinks reception until 9pm, so there's plenty of time to stick around and chat after the panels wrap up. The OEC is on Penistone Road, Sheffield, S6 2DE. ADE members attend for free, with limited availability per organisation.
