Seattle premiere screening of the documentary 'Sentient' on animal experimentation, followed by a Q&A with Dr. Lisa Jones-Engel.
The Wyncote NW Forum hosts the Seattle premiere of Sentient on Tuesday, November 17, a documentary about animal experimentation presented by PETA. The screening is followed by a Q&A with Dr. Lisa Jones-Engel, one of the film's central figures.
Sentient is the directorial debut of veteran Australian journalist Tony Jones, and it brings the debate over animal testing close to home for Seattle. The film features the University of Washington primate center and follows Dr. Lisa Jones-Engel, a former UW primate scientist. It offers a rare look inside laboratory research on animals through the scientists who have participated in it, defended it, and ultimately questioned it. At its heart, the film asks whether animal testing can still be justified in the name of science.
Before it reached Seattle, Sentient made its debut at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival and has sparked conversations at festivals around the world since then. The Q&A after the screening gives you a chance to hear from Dr. Jones-Engel herself, the same scientist the film follows through the research she once did.
