Guided walking tour of Queen Anne that traces the neighborhood's evolution from Queen Anne Style homes through Modern architecture.
Queen Anne: Evolution of an Urban Neighborhood is a guided walking tour on Saturday, October 17, from 10 AM to 12 PM. It's one of the Seattle Architecture Foundation's neighborhood tours, a series that's been running for more than 40 years and is led by volunteer guides who act as ambassadors for the city. Every ticket purchase supports the foundation's educational programs for youth and families.
The route climbs Queen Anne, one of Seattle's most treasured hilltop neighborhoods, and traces its evolution from Queen Anne Style homes through Modern architecture. Along the way, you'll see landmark residences, apartments and repurposed buildings, expansive views, quiet corners, hidden estates and sensitive restorations. It's a good way to see how the neighborhood has changed over the decades, from the ornate houses that give the area its name to the more streamlined styles that followed.
One thing to keep in mind: because the neighborhood is old, some of the streets and sidewalks can be uneven, so be mindful of your footing. Also, the tour needs at least three registered attendees to go ahead.
