Public guided tour of the Seattle Asian Art Museum's collection, exploring worship, clothing, nature and birth and death across Asian cultures.
Journeys Through Time and Space is a guided tour through the Seattle Asian Art Museum on Saturday, November 14. It's a 60-minute walk through the museum's Asian art collection, which is the largest of its kind on the continent. The tour follows a few big themes: worship and celebration, clothing and identity, nature and power, and birth and death. Each one is explored through installations that show the complexity and diversity of Asian cultures, histories, and belief systems.
The venue itself is part of the experience. The museum is an Art Deco building in Volunteer Park, and it's where the Seattle Art Museum first began. These days it's home to the Gardner Center for Asian Art & Ideas, the McCaw Library, and the Chen Community Meeting Room.
