A charitable bicycle food drive and scavenger hunt where teams collect grocery items for local food banks, with a Mini-Cranksgiving option for shorter rides.
Cranksgiving is back at Byrd Barr Place on Saturday, November 21, from 9 AM to 1 PM. It's a food drive and scavenger hunt on bicycle run by the Cascade Bicycle Club, and this is its 17th Seattle edition. The format is simple: you form a team of up to four riders, head out to collect grocery items, and deliver them to partner food banks to score points. The haul goes to the University District, Rainier Valley, and White Center food banks, as well as Byrd Barr Place itself. It runs rain or shine, so you'll be out there regardless of the November weather.
The main route covers 12 to 15 miles in total, but if that feels like a bit much for a Saturday morning, there's a Mini-Cranksgiving option that keeps it to three to five miles. The morning starts with everyone assembling at Byrd Barr Place for announcements before the hunt officially sets off. Once the riding is done, the day closes with an after party at Central Cinema, where food and drinks are available to buy.

Last year the event broke the Seattle record, with 385 riders collecting and donating 6,540 pounds of food and supplies. It's free to participate, though you'll want to budget for the groceries you'll be collecting—participants should anticipate spending a minimum of about $40. The whole thing runs from 9 AM to 1 PM at Byrd Barr Place, 722 18th Ave, Seattle, WA 98122.
