A three-day gathering of Native American, Canadian First Nations and Indigenous communities honouring cultural traditions through song, dance and community.
The 38th Annual Indian Days Powwow returns to the Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center grounds from July 16 to 18, 2027. It's a three-day gathering of Native American, Canadian First Nations, and Indigenous communities that centers on song, dance, and community. The powwow usually draws around 20,000 people, and more than 50 Indigenous vendors set up on the grounds selling jewelry, apparel, and prints.
One of the main events is the drums and singing contest that runs across the weekend. First place takes home $3,000, second gets $2,000, and third $1,000, with day pay for the first ten drums. The whole thing is run by the United Indians of All Tribes Foundation at Daybreak Star, their headquarters. The center was completed in 1977 and has since become a hub for Native peoples and their supporters from across the city, the country, and beyond. Inside, you'll find a permanent collection of Native art and the Sacred Circle Gallery, which hosts rotating exhibits by contemporary Native artists alongside the Sacred Circle Gift Shop. The grounds also host the annual Seafair Indian Days Powwow and Indigenous People's Day celebrations.
