A monthly gathering for seniors aged 65 and over featuring a lecture on scientific topics followed by the film 'National Parks Adventure' in the Heikoff Giant Dome Theater.
Senior Monday returns to the Fleet Science Center on Monday, October 5, from 10 AM to 5 PM. It's part of the center's monthly series for seniors aged 65 and over, set up as a way to learn about science and connect with other people in the community. The day's program starts with a lecture on scientific topics, followed by a screening of National Parks Adventure in the Heikoff Giant Dome Theater.
The theater itself is worth mentioning: it's the largest IMAX screen in San Diego, so that's where you'll be spending the second half of the session. The lecture comes first, and the film follows.
For context, the Fleet Science Center is San Diego's hub for scientific exploration and innovation, housed in the flagship building of Balboa Park. It recently went through a major renovation and now holds more than 100 interactive exhibits, two new galleries, and the reimagined Element 8 Cafe, so if you arrive early or want to stick around after the program, there's plenty to see beyond the theater.
