Concert by Rome Ramirez, former frontman of the ska-punk band Sublime, with special guest Beth Hart at the Balboa Theatre.
Rome plays the Balboa Theatre on Tuesday, January 12, 2027, with special guest Beth Hart opening the bill. Rome is the recording and touring name of Rome Ramirez, an Oakland native who taught himself guitar in his family's garage. In his late teens he moved to Los Angeles and fronted a revived iteration of the ska-punk act Sublime, which he co-founded in 2009. He's since released three albums with the trio and toured alongside 311, The Offspring, Cypress Hill and Incubus, all while writing deeply confessional songs of his own.
Ramirez credits the connection he felt playing on live streams during lockdown with giving him a new sense of purpose, and he says a main goal of his current music is to build a community that lifts each other up. That's the side of him you'll hear here: the solo work he records and tours under the name Rome, rather than the band he's known for.
Sharing the bill is Beth Hart, one of the most powerful voices in blues-rock. She's a Grammy nominee known for raw vocals and emotional performances, so the night brings together two very different styles on one stage. Between Ramirez's confessional songwriting and Hart's blues-rock, it's a double bill that covers a fair bit of ground.
