Smooth jazz guitarist Nils brings his infectious grooves and smooth melodies to Humphreys Backstage Live.
Nils plays Humphreys Backstage Live in San Diego on Sunday, June 13, 2027. He's a smooth jazz guitarist and composer based in Los Angeles, and he'll be the main feature of the night.
If you've heard of him, it's probably from Pacific Coast Highway, the 2005 album that broke him through. The title track became the most-played smooth jazz song in the U.S. and Canada that year, and it was followed by the number one hit Summer Nights. He's been releasing albums since his 1998 debut Blue Planet, with Ready to Play coming in 2007 and Caught in the Groove in 2020. Billboard named him Airplay Artist of the Year.
There's a bit more to his career than just the solo records. Born in Munich, he moved to L.A. in the mid-80s and spent years working as a sideman, session guitarist, and film composer. He scored the show Weeds and played on George Benson's Standing Together. That session work sits alongside the solo albums he's put out over the last couple of decades.
