Alt-pop-rock artist MICO performs live at the House of Blues in San Diego, with support from Will Linley.
MICO plays House of Blues San Diego on Monday, October 19, with Will Linley opening. The show is part of his Running From a Feeling tour, which brings his alt-pop-rock to the venue at 1055 5th Ave.
MICO is Miguel Veloso, a 23-year-old Filipino-Canadian artist from Toronto. His sound pulls from a few different places: the hooky, nostalgic pop punk of the 2000s and 2010s, mixed with modern hyperpop and alternative influences. He didn't start in the traditional circuit, either. He built his first audience online through Discord performances, TikTok, and self-released music before moving into the larger rooms he's playing now, with headline tours across North America and Europe.
His debut album, When the lights turn on, came out through Columbia Records. He wrote it during a year of constant travel and personal upheaval, and it's the record he's touring behind. The set will draw from that material, with Will Linley handling the opening slot.
