Concert by singer-songwriter Medium Build with support from The Scratch at The Observatory North Park.
Medium Build plays The Observatory North Park on Monday, November 2, as part of his The King of Having Fun tour. He's bringing along the Dublin four-piece The Scratch to open the night.
Medium Build is the stage name of Nick Carpenter, a singer-songwriter whose career has moved across a few different genres. His sound pulls from the indie-leaning side of things, with Pedro the Lion, Alvvays and Dinosaur Jr. listed as influences. The tour takes its name from his album King of Having Fun, which includes the love song "Thank You Cook," written for his partner Annika Bennett. She co-wrote the record and sings background vocals throughout it.
Opening the bill is The Scratch, a Dublin-based four-piece made up of Conor Dockery, Cathal McKenna, Daniel Lang and Gary Regan. They blend acoustic and electric folk with metal, and their 2023 album Mind Yourself debuted at number one on the Irish Vinyl Charts and number three on the IRMA Weekly Album Chart. They've toured the US with the Dropkick Murphys, and their third album, Pull Like A Dog, is due March 6, 2026, via Sony Music Ireland.
