Jon McLaughlin brings The Scenarios Tour to The Holding Company in Ocean Beach on Saturday, October 17, with Matthew Thomas opening the night. It's a stop on his current tour, and he'll be playing the set as part of the larger run.
McLaughlin is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter who grew up in Indiana, and he's built his career around weaving his own life and beliefs into his music. He released his debut album, Indiana, in 2007 on Island Def Jam and has put out six full-length albums since, with his piano playing and singing evolving across them. He's worked with Billy Joel, Kelly Clarkson, and Adele, collaborated with Sara Bareilles, co-written with Demi Lovato, and performed at the Academy Awards in 2008. He's also a pianist beyond the singing: he released the instrumental album MOOD in fall 2019 and MOOD II in May 2020, and he's done a Dueling Pianos video series where guest artists perform mashups of arrangements that hadn't been heard before. In fall 2022, he toured to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Indiana.
