Annual charity cycling fundraiser with routes through scenic San Diego to support pancreatic cancer research, commemorating Jim Krause.
Ride the Point returns to Liberty Station on Saturday, November 7, for its 13th annual charity cycling ride. The rides run from 7 AM to 2 PM, with a Family Fun Ride from 8 AM to 10 AM. It all starts and ends at the Point Loma Nazarene University Conference Center, 2600 Lanning Road, San Diego, CA 92106.
The ride is held in memory of Jim Krause, an avid cyclist and past president of the Point Loma Rotary Club, who died in 2012 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Every year, the club holds this fundraiser to support pancreatic cancer research at Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego Health in La Jolla. Event director Richard Stakelum, Ed.D., describes it as more than a bicycle ride: a community coming together to fight pancreatic cancer, powered by hundreds of volunteers, SAG support, and five fully stocked rest stops along the route.
The course takes you through some of San Diego's most scenic areas—many of which open to cyclists only once a year—including Point Loma, Ocean Beach, Mission Bay, La Jolla, Torrey Pines, and Sorrento Valley. Alongside the ride, a free Healthy Lifestyle Expo runs at the Liberty Station Conference Center from 9 AM to 2 PM.
