Concert by the post-punk project Hunny, with Dead Poet Society and Honey Revenge as openers.
Hunny plays the House of Blues San Diego on Friday, October 23, with Dead Poet Society and Honey Revenge opening. It's a full bill for a Friday night downtown, and the headliner is a local one: Hunny is the project of Jason Yarger, who's based in Newbury Park, California.
He's touring his third album, SPIRIT!, released through Epitaph. Yarger describes it as a return to hooky post-punk, gleaming synths, and shout-along choruses, and he wrote and recorded nearly all of it in his own LA home studio. If that sounds familiar, it's because he's built a reputation for shifting across genres and decades over the years. Among the fan favorites are 2019's "Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes." and 2023's "new planet heaven," so the set should pull from both the new record and the older songs.
