Fear Factory live in concert at House of Blues, with Darkest Hour and Brotality.
Fear Factory are playing House of Blues on Wednesday, November 25, with Darkest Hour and Brotality opening. It's part of their Cybernetic Domination Tour, and the show is all ages.
If you're not familiar with the name, Fear Factory came out of the Los Angeles thrash scene in the early 1990s and helped shape industrial metal. Their 1992 debut, Soul of a New Machine, set the template: the staccato, machine-like riffs of guitarist and co-founder Dino Cazares paired with Burton C. Bell's death-metal howls and soaring singing, all held down by Raymond Herrera's drumming. The 1995 follow-up, Demanufacture, became a classic of the genre, certified Gold in Australia and Silver in the UK, and its track "Zero Signal" ended up on the Mortal Kombat soundtrack. The 1997 remix album Remanufacture featured a then-29-year-old Thomas Holkenborg, who later became Junkie XL, and the 1998 concept album Obsolete brought in the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. In 2001, Digimortal put "Linchpin" on the Mainstream Rock Top 40.
After a split in 2002, the band reunited in 2010 with Mechanize, which many consider their best work since Demanufacture. That was followed by The Industrialist in 2012 and Genexus in 2015. Their tenth album, Aggression Continuum (2020), brought back the core trio of Cazares, Bell, and Herrera. Darkest Hour and Brotality are the openers for the night, so there are three bands on the bill.
