Surf, skate and music festival held at Belmont Park in San Diego.
Am Slam returns to Belmont Park on Saturday, October 17, bringing together surfing, skating, and music for a full day in San Diego. It's a festival that pulls from three different scenes and puts them in one spot, so you can watch the surfing and the skating and catch the music without having to move around the city.
This year it's taking over a portion of the south lot at Belmont Park, at 3126 Mission Blvd in San Diego. Since it's an outdoor event, the weather will play a part in how the day goes, and the whole thing runs from 10 AM to 6 PM. That's an eight-hour window, so you can drop in for a few hours or hang out for the whole stretch. If you're coming from outside the immediate area, it's right there in the heart of Mission Beach, so you'll have the ocean and the rest of the park around you.
As for what to expect, the surfing, skating, and music are the three pillars of the day. You'll see the surfing and the skating happening alongside the music, rather than as separate events scheduled at different times. It's the kind of thing that works best when you just wander between the different areas. If you're into one more than the others, you can spend most of your time there, but the whole point is that they're all happening in the same place.
