Concert by the indie rock band 10,000 Maniacs at Humphrey's Concerts by the Bay in San Diego.
10,000 Maniacs play Humphrey's Concerts by the Bay on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 7:30 PM. They're an American independent band that started in Jamestown, New York, back in 1981, and they've spent the years since building a reputation for eclectic music and poetic lyrics.
Mary Ramsey joined the group on violin and vocals in 1991 and stepped up as lead singer in 1994. Since then, they've sold more than 10 million records worldwide. Their Elektra Records era produced five studio albums: Hope Chest, The Wishing Chair, In My Tribe, Blind Man's Zoo, and Our Time In Eden. In the '80s, producer Peter Asher helped streamline their sound and yield hits like "Like the Weather," "What's the Matter Here?" and "Candy Everybody Wants."
They've played some high-profile stages over the decades, including President Clinton's 1992 inaugural ball. They were also among the first acts to score a hit from MTV's Unplugged with their version of "Because the Night."
